So its been a very interesting period since April 2020, with the Covid-19 Pandemic sweeping in disrupting our daily routines and with lockdowns giving many the time to spend to reflect on what’s really important. It’s no surprise then that we have seen a rise in the average order made at the studio, families are valuing the time spent together more and are investing in wall art to hang in the home. We believe no family home is complete without an up to date family portrait of everyone, and for that portrait to accurately represent not only the family but the individuals within it, a sentiment more and more families are beginning to share with us.
On the other side of the spectrum the young adults of London and surrounding areas seem to be more motivated than ever to stand out, show their confidence and hit the internet with new imager. The imagery is also becoming bolder, stronger and the subjects fiercer! Teen confidence within the creative sectors such as dance, drama, music and modelling are entering new unexplored territory as many struggle to define who they are and stand out amongst a perpetually noisy and more saturated society where everyone is trying to get noticed.
Its becoming clear that in an ever evolving society where we communicate and express ourselves through online social media, that the media aspect of our lives is becoming increasingly more important to us. Imagery helps represent who we are as individuals and having control of high quality professional imagery is becoming more popular amongst the younger generation.
Let’s not forget the elephant in the room, youngsters these days are producing amazing footage and imagery from they’re phones however studio portraiture is still an area that is (thankfully for us!) unaccessible to the public and amateurs. Studio lighting is the key here and not only is good equipment absurdly expensive but it takes a seasoned professional to understand how to use it effetely to create amazing imagery and this isn’t something that can be leant quickly or even in a few years. It takes years and years of hard work, strong passion and steadfast dedication to achieve the knowledge and skills required to produce top end imagery.
The Fresh Academy has been around a long time and in that time we have seen many other local studios come and go (its a tough sector to be in!), but what we’ve noticed is the middle market is disappearing. Those cheaper studios that create good but fairly mediocre images have been dropping like flies, we believe that’s because people care more about they’re imagery today than ever before, social media and lockdowns have ensured that. So then it makes no sense to pay a bit less for imagery that doesn’t stand out and get you notice.
Thankfully we have always been a high end studio, we cater not just for portraiture clients and members of the public but we also shoot a lot of commercial work and video work too, this has always allowed us to stand out from amongst the other studios and because we are made up of very senior photographers (both lead photographers are commercial fashion photographers with imagery in the biggest publications globally), have the best equipment in the industry, an incredibly talented production team and were passionate about the imagery we create. We also keep up with the fashion trends of the day, we are always changing sets and the style of imagery we shoot is constantly evolving with current trends.
So we keep it “FRESH”……..sorry no pun intended……well actually that’s a lie…..it was too good to leave out :) ………but this has allowed us to keep one step ahead of the competition and we believe allows us to produce imagery that is modern and in demand. Which leaves me to the BIG news……we’ve had a massive refurb!
Gone are the white walls and old wall art samples, we’ve gone for a super modern look with grey walls, a rich wood floor and furniture that complements, the makeup lounge has had a huge overhaul too with new equipment also added, we’ve also added new tech with Sonos speakers.
